Exploring Portland and its surroundings...

As you can see, we have spent the weekend exploring our new hometown and its surroundings.. there is really a lot to do and see. We went to the Coast, to a little town called Astoria and from there crossed the Columbia River to Long Beach Peninsula (Washington State). There you can find a great 40km long Beach and Cape Disappointment. Its the place where the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean meet and the home of a lot of sunken ships (the sea is quite rough there..)

Sunday was our shopping day - and guess what happend? While walking trough the Hawthorne district and exploring some antique shops I nearly bumped into one of the most famous inhabitans of Portland - Hollywood actor Tim Robbins :) I was first not sure, whether it was really him or not, but we saw him three times on that day - riding a bike, walking around and yes, it was really him...looks like, this happend already to some other Portlanders, too.
