We watched a Rollergirl Derby this Saturday: a lot of fun, with lots of crazy people. Pictures below...(guess which one is not from me? ;) and for those who are really interested - a short summary of the game rules :)
------ General Roller Derby Rules ------
According to the rules set forth by the Texas Rollergirls. The first thing you need to know are that there are three positions:
- Pivot: sets the pace for the pack and is the last line of defense
- Blocker: tries to stop the jammer, knocks around the opposing team's blockers
- Jammer: sprints through the pack, scoring points by passing members of the opposing team
The pack starts with a pivot from each team in front, 3 blockers from each team in the middle, and a jammer from each team in the back. When the whistle blows, the pack takes off, and on a second whistle, the jammers start fighting their way through the pack in an attempt to be named "lead jammer."The jammers lap the pack and when they re-enter the pack, they receive one point for each member of the opposing team that they pass.
"A jam" lasts a maximum of two minutes, but the "lead jammer" has the right to call off the jam at her discretion. It sounds simple, but it's not ... 'cause there are two little things called "falling" and "fighting" that fill some jams with mayhem, violence, and penalties.

am woende geht's auf nach hawaii? wow... da meldet sich schon ein bissi neid an bei mir... hoffe schon jetzt auf einen fotobericht hier.
bei mir alles in bester ordnung... schön langsam rollt die euro-welle auf uns zu u wird uns in kürze komplett überschwappen... der totale werbeoverkill... aber ich versteh's ja eh, hab ja auch ein projekt zu diesem thema am laufen... aber nicht ganz freiwillig ;))
bei unserem letzten tratsch hat mir birgit berichtet, dass du dich schon gut eingelebt hast u viel unterwegs bist - das freut mich sehr... u hab ich hier jetzt auch ausgespyed... weil ganz so einfach ist's ja auch nicht in den fernen landen.

@Martina - danke für deine Nachricht - Hawaii Bericht folgt in Kürze - es war genial! Sonst tut sich nicht viel, noch immer keine Arbeitsgenehmigung und auch noch immer kein Job... leider. Wir bekommen hier von der EURO gar nix mit, eh klar, die Amis stehen nicht so auf Fussball... find ich schon ein bissi schad! Aber wenn man es rund um die Uhr hat, ists halt auch zuviel...

@Sigi Wie gehts dir denn so in München? Wie ist der Job? Ich hab leider noch keinen, der mir Spaß machen könnte :( Die Arbeitsgenehmigung ist auch noch nicht da, das dauert bis zu 100 Tage und ich bin erst 2 Monate hier.. vertreib mir die Zeit mit Englischunterricht und Sport und momentan noch mit Kisten auspacken (der Seecontainer ist kurz vor unserer Abreise nach Hawaii gekommen und daher ham wir noch das volle Chaos zH :) LG Jasmin
